Soil texture has a significant effect on agriculture. It influences aeration, water storage and movement, nutrient holding capacity, and the inherent resistance of geologic materials (soils and rocks) to soil erosion or erodibility. Thus, it directly affects the growth of crops. Our aim of this project is to build a simplified portable instrument that can easily be used by anyone who has a smartphone to analyze their soil texture.
