In impoverished, off-grid communities like Hanoi's riverside slums, access to electricity is unreliable, forcing reliance on dangerous, polluting sources. These areas, however, have abundant sun and wind. Shine Breeze is a low-cost, sustainable invention that combines small wind turbines and solar panels to generate electricity for lighting. Using sensors and an Arduino Nano, it stores energy for use. Future work will add smartphone monitoring via WiFi/Bluetooth.
