Biochar is produced through the pyrolysis of agricultural biomass. It contains stable carbon structures that resist degradation. These properties make it a promising additive for developing lightweight, sustainable, and low-carbon building materials. Our research and supporting studies show that biochar-enhanced concrete can improve mechanical and durability performance while reducing cement usage. It also enhances insulation properties and contributes significantly to carbon storage.
