The Pyro Sentinel uses sensors that are carefully tuned to detect heat and smoke before it activates. Once triggered, the alarm will sound, and then it will release polystyrene-shelled balls filled with dry chemical powder. Upon exposure to high heat, the balls explode and disperse the powder, thereby suppressing the flames. The device was mounted on a higher spot to keep an eye on the area at all times.
