JasBerKen is a low-cost pyrolytic apparatus that converts biomass into biochar, through the process of pyrolysis. The constructed device of JasBerKen is similar to small-scale pyrolysis plants, whereas it produces a black, brittle and porous substance which befits the characteristics of biochar or horticultural charcoal. The produced charcoal can significantly help local farmers and in agriculture, as it can be an alternative for chemical fertilizers that we usually use.
